“In the rhythm of the needles there is music for the soul”
I still remember my first Knitting project; a half done baby blanket for one of my younger cousins. It consisted of pink, yellow, and cream stripes with a blue border. It never did get finished. I think I finally threw it away when I was about 16. It was still sitting in its black garbage bag that I kept it in stuffed way back in my closet. I was only 7 at the time when I started it, and I was constantly asking my mom for help when I made a mistake. Usually it was a dropped stitch. I didn't have the patience for it so I eventually gave up. Fast forward almost 20 years and I am a co-owner of a yarn shop! How cool is that?! (F.Y.I- I no longer keep my projects in garbage bags lol) I got back into knitting about 5 years ago and I have been addicted since! My ultimate day would consist of rainy weather, Starbucks, a chick flick on the t.v, and working away on whatever knitting project I have on the needles at the time! I hope you all enjoy our store as much as we do. We hope to create an inspiring atmosphere where you can get ideas for your next project, or to come and just visit and work on your projects!
My gramma taught me to knit and crochet. I loved it because it was time spent with her. I’m amazed that it stuck because I was such a tomboy! But it did and I loved sharing that with her. She was so patient and never laughed at all the holes and mistakes in my projects.
I stopped knitting for a long time after she died and then Robyn encouraged me to start again. I couldn’t believe how much things had changed and all the wonderful new yarns, tools and patterns. It was a whole new world!
I could spend hours just exploring yarn options and patterns. Pinterest and Ravelry are now an obsession! So many things to knit and so little time! I always have at least three things on my needles at all times, ok, maybe five!
Our yarn store is the epitome of a dream come true. It combines my love of antiques and vintage items with Robyn’s boho vibe. We love the Old Train Station. It is the perfect fit for our store.
